You just have to change one letter.
Free speech is a important part of our society, but that doesn’t mean you should run around writing or speaking every inane thought you have. It seems though that some people are going to say stupid things whether they’ve “thought” long and hard about it or not. Case in point:
No, this isn’t one of those fake sign generators as much as I wish it was. News story with video. (via Friendly Atheist) Of course the first thing I thought of was this Demotivator:
Opposing the God of the Gaps.

Inspiring quotes from inspiring men.
Those of you that receive email from me or have been to my Facebook profile might have seen these quotes already, but I wanted to put them here, so I offer a bonus quote in the hopes that you might look over them again. Those who haven’t put up with me quoting these before I hope you’re blessed/challenged/encouraged.

Christ’s requests of biographers. (a satirical work)
Scholars recently discovered what appears to be a text written as Christ spoke to the disciples after his resurrection. The parchment, containing instructions on writing about his life, is believed by some believe it to be one of the greatest archaeological findings of our time.
“And Christ gathered those whom he loved and said to them, These are my wishes for those of you whom will write of my life:
You must embellish a little to make me stand out as a historical figure, otherwise the tides of history will wash away my story and yours with it. Now I’m not saying that you should make me fly or shine like the sun, but I’m sure you can figure something out.
You must wait at least 10 years before writing anything. This is so the facts become blurry in your mind and future readers will get a lot of your character added to the facts, thus allowing them to know you and me.
You must not collaborate on your writings, this will make it more fun for future readers to figure out which of you have accurately depicted my life and which of you haven’t. Not to mention those of you that already disagree on what I’ve said will have great joy in trying to out do each other to become the more popular writer, thus proliferating your agenda.
Lastly, I want you to realize those after you are going to have their own agendas and might try to hide or cover up some of your stories while making some others the pinnacle of their belief, so work hard on your writings, you’ll want yours to be picked. Plus you don’t want these people to have to do a lot of editing, who knows what they might write.
And straightway Christ departed leaving those he loved to quarrel who of them would give the greatest account of his life. But none of them noticed me already jotting down notes hoping that I not be smote for this actttttaarrrgggghh….”
And here is the KJV for those who prefer it:

Where are you going to church?
This seems to be a popular question when catching up with people from my past. Of course I did go to a Christian high school and I was fairly active in church too. So, I guess it's fair, but the answer is "I don't". Here's a post I wrote in response to a disscussion about the Da Vinci Code that I never posted, it touches a little on the problems I have with church.
One problem with Christianity is churches. Churches were never advocated by Christ, yet they seem to do very well in existing, controlling their congregation, and making money. The fact is that the Bible we have today was decided by the more powerful early church leaders to force their ideas upon all, by calling anything outside what they approved heresy.
Another problem is that there seems to be this innate desire for Christians to feel like they're being persecuted. I'm not sure if this is just the nature of the religion do to the Bible, or the work of the churches. Anyone remember when Harry Potter came out? It wasn't a fun fictional fantasy novel for children, it was a evil work of witchcraft trying to suck their children away from God. I'm not sure why there is this need to attack fictional works, but it seems that if their faith in their beliefs were strong enough they wouldn't feel threatened by other's opinions and have this need to lash out.
While these statements may not be true of all, they are representative of my experience.
So, that's a little of it. As I mentioned above churches seem very interested in money. Yes, I realize I live in the USA and everything (or at least it feels like everything) is about money, but it seems like church should be different. There are other reasons, but I figure that's enough for now, I'm sure I'll get around to the others sooner or later.
