Apples in the Army?

So apparently the Army is adding more Apples into their mix of computers.

He points out that Apple’s X Serve servers, which are gradually becoming more commonplace in Army data centers, are proving their mettle. “Those are some of the most attacked computers there are. But the attacks used against them are designed for Windows-based machines, so they shrug them off,” he says.

It has often been said that the reason that Windows suffers more attacks is that it is a more prevalent operating system thus more worthwhile to create attacks for.  So will an increase in Apple’s popularity or it’s use by a more desirable target for hackers mean that there will be a growth in exploits/viruses for it?  Some already say that Mac OSX was already more insecure than Windows XP/Vista through 2007.  Either way it is good to see a diversification of systems as a method of security.  As with all systems user practices are usually the biggest security vulnerability.
