Sparse Random Thoughts

First Snow

Posted in Everything, Random Thoughts by Matt on November 23rd, 2005

It's snowing. This is the first real snow of the season. We had some flurries last week, but no accumulation. I should have a pic up later, but you'll just have to imagine for now. Stop imagining. (yes I mean all imagining)

I should be working on homework, but have been having trouble concentrating. I'm finding all kinds of things to distract myself, like this entry, staring outside of the snow, thinking about Thanksgiving, and my upcoming birthday.

I'm not exactly sure when I started disliking getting older, but if I had to guess it be around 16. I mean I know when I was a kid I looked forward to getting older and being allowed to do more, but now I just see it as an opportunity to be unhappy with where I am in life. This is an awful way to be considering how good life is for me. Sure life could always be better, but it could also be far worse. I know it but, moods are often not swayed by what we know. The snow, being that I love snow, may be what I need to get out of this emotional funk. Or maybe it was an unconscious decision to feel more like my cynically optimistic self.

Template change.

Well, I finally got this template arranged how I want it, so here it is. I'm likely to get bored with it quickly, but don't think that means it's going to change anytime soon. And while you're at it don't start expecting posts to show up as frequently as this one has. I should probably go to the doctor, I mean there must be something wrong with me, posting two days in a row. I think I'm going to go lie down for a while, I'm feeling overworked.

Some links.

Well, instead of thinking I've decided just to point you in other directions. I hope to make this a regular entry, well as regular as the rest of it.

First off, if you don't have it you should, Firefox. I've been using it for way too long without saying something about it, I love the tabbed browsing and extensions (love these you can pick and choose they're not forced upon you).

Gmail. If you're looking for a new email address you should check this out, granted not everyone will like it, but it's definitely worth the look. For now it's invite only, so drop me an email and I'll send you one.

Ah, but what if you don't have an email address or don't want me to have yours? Solution: Mailinator - personal disposable email accounts. To better understand check out their page.

Last in this line up is Open Office, who with their 2.0 release is looking smoother than ever. Great for those on a budget that need something better than M$ Works, it's a free office suite. Did I mention it can export to PDF?
